James H. Grant, 85, a lifetime resident of Kennett Square, Pa., passed away July 25, 2008 at Paoli Hospital, Paoli, Pa. He was the husband of the late Betty Anderson Grant, who passed away in 2003 and with whom he shared 52 years of marriage.
Born in West Chester, Pa., he was the son of the late Harry L. and Mary E. Hamilton Grant.
Jimmy worked for the Chester County Health Department, Division of Weights and Measures, for 12 years. Prior to that, he was a salesman and service manager for the Ford dealership in Kennett Square for over 35 years.
He was a lifetime member of St. Patrick Church in Kennett Square.
Jimmy was a 1940 graduate of Kennett High School and enjoyed gathering every three months with his former classmates. He volunteered for the Kennett Fire Co. No. 1 for 67 years.
He is survived by a daughter, Patti E. Tatum and her husband Tom of Northbrook; a son, Timothy J. Grant and his wife Louise of Coconut Creek, Fl.; and by four grandchildren, Brian T. Grant and his wife Sonia of Valencia, Spain, Bethany M. Pistorius and her husband Ryan of Euclid, Oh., Alex Tatum and Erin Tatum, both of Northbrook, Pa.
Jimmy was a wonderful father and grandfather and will be deeply missed.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at St. Patrick Church, 212 Meredith St., Kennett Square. Family and friends visited with his family from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 and also from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home 610.444.4116, 250 W. State St., Kennett Square. Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Jimmy’s memory to Kennett Area Senior Center, 427 South Walnut Street, Kennett Square, Pa. 19348.
